A Socio-economic transformation movement in Orissa State which was initiated by dedicated graduates of one of the leading universities of the state one and half decades back to address the marginalization and dispossession of people dependent on natural resources for their sustenance through participation in the struggles of the dis-empowered led to various successes and policy changes & implementation mechanisms. This movement took the formal shape of a Trust called Tapobhoomi in the year 2002 which has opened the avenues for augmented institutional collaborations with varied actors in the social, technical, academic, policy formulation and administration sectors spearheading a two pronged strategy for socio-economic and attitudinal transformation – macro level advocacy and micro level mobilization and models.

Tapobhoomi Trust is a well known organization not only in Orissa but in Chhatisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttaranchal also. It is working in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Indian Council Of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), the apex Body of Govt. of India in Deheradun. These Institutes of National importance are collaborating with Tapobhoomi Trust because of it's credibility. People in the field actively support the trust and partner with the trust willingly in all activities because of it's sincerity, commitment and accountability which has stood the test of time.
